Nanphanita Visits CA4LA in Tokyo

Although I’ve already been back in the United States, but my heart is still in Japan. Japan was incredible and amazed me in so many ways. The one thing that I really enjoyed was a chic hat store I found during my visit in Tokyo. Ca4La has a strong debuted name in both Japanese and overseas for long time. I actually saw Ca4La brand at the first time from @Hatabouttown (one of my favorite Instagram accounts to get hat inspirations from all over the world).

Ca4La is a hat shop established in 1989 by Weave Toshi Co.,. How to pronounce the brand name? It’s pronounced as Ka-Shi-La (Shi is 4 in Japanese). The meaning of the brand is the head and also the top in addition to their own designs. There are several stores throughout Tokyo. Here are stores locations and business hours.

For the first visit, I would recommend to visit a flagship store of Ca4La at Otemondo. The store is in the heart of Shibuya and some of their staff speaks English. You can get off from Shibuya station and walk 12 minutes or from Harajuku station and walk about 8 minutes. The front of the store is very well displayed with the lovely trunk of hats on the left (so you can’t miss the mark!) And the elegantly intricate iron stair on the right. The mosaic floor has also written Ca4La – perfect for instagram photo #IHaveThisThingWithTheFloor.

As soon as I entered to the store, I felt like I was in the hat heaven. There are various styles of hats both for men and women (women hats are in the front and side of the store, men hats are in the back of the store). All the hats at the first big table in the middle right after the gate is beautiful handmade by Ca4La Ateliers on the 2nd floor. The other hats spread out in the store; they are imported items and items that they have collaborated on with international artists, designers and musicians.

During my visit at Ca4La, I had Tei gave me the best hospitality and helped me whatever I had throughout the entire visit. She’s so charming, energized and cheerful, just like how Ca4La presents to the world.

Ca4La is offering both quality and quantity. No doubts that hats made by Ateliers are well made and exclusive. In Ateliers’ house, they also do custom designs for bridal head, hair accessories and repairs. You can visit the 2nd floor and see how the artisans in the Atelier work while admire the displays of some high-end hats in collaboration from all over the world. Talking about quantity, I mean there are various hat designs that you can choose from cute animal faced beanies to fierce leather or fur bucket hats or felts. The store has a hat for everyone. Believe me just standing and trying one by one hat are so tempting to buy all of their hats.

Who’s wear better? Me or Tei? I know I think Tei wore it better than me too, but at least I tried!

I could say this was close to my imagination of “Hat House” that I want to have in the nearest future. Yes, you’ve heard me talking about Hat House before, I’m not joking!
if it's not fun, it is not a hat
That’s my hat motto.
