This week I’m super excited to share a luxurious fashion hat and hair accessory brand from my hometown of Bangkok, Thailand. Earlier in January I had the opportunity to the Met Café Thonglor, a coffee shop and fashion boutique that presently are the sole distributor for Tête-à-Porter (tête means head and prêt-à-porter means ready to wear in French).
Tête-à-Porter is a chic ready-to-wear headpiece brand that was started by two close friends Vitida Trangadisaikul and Ploypan Patrathiranond. They wanted to wear distinguished headpieces to parties and events that they felt were not available in Thailand. Combining their sense of fashion, hard work, connections and understanding of Bangkok society they created a brand with pieces ranging from elegant to playful. Utilizing various materials such as straw, felt, leather and cotton, the pieces are elegant, colorful and portray uncompromising quality and craftsmanship.
Although based in Bangkok, the elegance of this line allows it to fit right in with Hollywood glamour, British Royalty, and Thai High Life. One of their hats was even used in the final episode of The Crown Princess – a Thai television series. Tête-à-Porter’s line varies from statement making hats, to red carpet ready turbans and headpieces, to everyday wearable pieces and pretty straw and casual hats. There are hats for all occasions including an amazing collection of vintage accessories and jewelry.
One specialty at Tête-à-Porter is their custom-made bridal headpieces. These pieces are known around the globe and one of the bridal collections was picked by the talented English fashion designer, Vivienne Westwood to pair up exclusively with her special wedding gown worn by one of the brand’s clients.
I had the best time playing around with Tête-à-Porter’s designs so let’s get right into the Tête-à-Porter hat line and learn more about my top picks.
