I’m currently in love with Giovannio’s distinguished Ikat Bucket Hat that I got it from Brim on Fifth. Brim on Fifth is a really cool brick and mortar store location in Dayton, Ohio. It was started by Amelia O’Dowd who as she said, “bought an ugly building, painted it yellow and started selling hats.” I love that they carry a variety of hat styles and brands, so there is a hat for everyone. If you aren’t able to make it to Ohio, don’t fret. They sell their complete hat collection and accessories online. Summer wishlist. Check.

Today I’ll be showing you how I am going to wear the Ikat bucket hat in 4 chic ways that will uplift your mood and add an unexpected edge to your ensembles. Whether you’re having a video conference with your coworkers (it’s #WFH people so your allow to have your personality shines through), a virtual Happy Hour with your girl-friends, or a post-quarantine vacation – hats have been the sartorial styling trick to complete your outfits and this bucket hat proves this accessory is totally worth the hype and is a spring/summer wardrobe must-have.
Before I jump in to all styling, this hat has a story. I’ve been dreaming to have a tribal abstract printed bucket hat that is modern but resonates to South East Asia. When I visited Bangkok this past January, I was on a hunt for That tribal hats but I didn’t have enough time to complete my quest. So I forgot all that when I arrived back in the USA. And then, a few weeks ago, I was on the Brim on Fifth website and I found this hat. The print really reminded me of typical Thai Ikat silk fabric (Matmi); I was excited and immediately texted Brim on Fifth a photo via their Instagram. They got back to me very fast with good news that they carry it and now this beauty is mine. So that’s my hat story with the very happy headwear ending!

Monochrome Ensemble
Dressing head to toe in a single color may sounds daunting, but it’s one of the easiest ways to elevate your look. A few tips to keep in mind: you don’t necessarily need to have pieces in the exact same shade to make this look work. Pair a pink graphic tank top or T-shirt with a bright shocking pink skirt and top off your head with the Ikat pink sunhat for a chic and playful touch. You can style it with a pair of sneakers or heeled ankle boots depending on your mood.

The Laid-back Balance
Everyone owns a white button-up shirt – whether its made from crisp cotton or soft silk, the tailored shape makes any outfit feel instantly elegant. Try baggy faux leather Bermuda shorts and coordinating sandals or heels for a casual office setting. To bring that Parisian je ne sais quoi to this ensemble, tuck the shirt just the front, and leave the rest scruffy, as you do not want to look too prepped when you want to look effortless! Finish with the eye-catching Ikat bucket hat and chunky gold chain necklace for an especially forward vibe.

Denim on Denim
Going double-denim isn’t exactly a new trend, but one minor misstep and you can wind up with a situation similar to the Justine Timberlake/Britney Spears debacle of 2001. The idea of mixing denims is similar to monochrome ensembles, you don’t want to have head to toe matchy-matchy denims. You want to play with different shades of denim together, like black jeans/white jeans and an oversized blue denim jacket, or a mini denim skirt, a white T-shirt/striped T-shirt and a chambray shirt. It’s almost impossible to go wrong this way. I personally love to break denim on denim with timeless pieces like a striped T-shirt and crisp white sneakers; they are classic for a reason. Elevate this everyday look with a fabulous red lip and urban chic Ikat hat.

Mix It All Up. There’s No Wrong Answer
Dressing up is an art – it’s definitely a way to express who we are without speaking. We should embrace the fact that we all have different bodies, tastes and minds. How boring would the world be if everyone dressed up alike? To describe what I meant, you should have fun experiencing what you put on and how they make you feel. I believe everyone can be their own version of a fashionista.

Individually I love the power of color and print clashing; it’s one of the most fun-loving and surprisingly wearable looks to try right now. Though the thought of mixing colors or clashing patterns may stress you out, but if your proportion is right and you do it with confidence – you totally can pull it off. Confidence is the only fashion rule that you need to stick with.

For example, try out a chevron graphic crop top with floral pants and throw a light pink blazer or kimono over for the feminine design an eye-grabbling, bold edge. The key is to stick with two to three major patterns and keep the rest of the look soft and minimal. Finish off the whole look with sandals/kitten heels and the Ikat Hat. I’m good to go.
I hope these looks gave you some style inspiration and made you feel how easy it is to rock a bucket hat this season. Let me know if you guys want to see more posts like this!
