Spring is here and summer is on its way! Nothing beats a killer spring/summer hat with a killer sun-kissed tan, am I right? I love, love, love hats and I think they are one accessory that you can wear all-year round. They don’t only hide a bad hair day, protect your face and neck from damaging sunrays, but also play up your look and add life to any outfit. I literally can find a million reasons to wear them.
There’s just something about the power of the brims that put me in a good mood and Giovannio Hats Spring/Summer ’20 collection has me feeling a certain type of way.
Today I’m sharing not one but THREE of my favorite pieces from Giovannio Hats that you can wear all spring/summer long for various occasions. I’ve been partnering with them for a while now and I’m obsessed! They have a wide selection of on trend, quality fashion hats that are super affordable.
The straw fedora
I was immediately drawn to the style and detail play of this ivory straw hat in exclusive collaboration between Cha Cha’s House of Ill Repute and Giovannio Hats. These are two brands that I really love, so a collaboration of the two is something special! A timeless fedora with a new twist, the intricate woven pattern is enhanced with a red and navy striped band with bee motif that meet with a metal star and the assorted feathers. That hat seems to scream of elegance, freshness and joy for the new season
I paired it with a white crop top, flowing printed pants and a long sleeve midi dress (wore it as a spring jacket) for an easy daytime look. You can also dress it up by pairing it with a dress from LWD, floral dress to any printed dresses or pairing it with a buttoned-down shirt and shorts or jeans. So many options. This is the kind of hat that takes zero effort to complete a look.
This entire look gives me a major Marrakesh vacation vibe. The hat is super lightweight and the unique basket weave is interlaced with invented opening for cool airflow so it’s totally designed for a comfortable experience. There is no need to worry about sweaty, and flat hair underneath the hat. Did I mention that this hat is one size fits most because it comes with a adjustable string? That’s right. You can shop it HERE.
The wide brim
I’ve never been one to follow rules (when it comes to fashion, at least), and I don’t particularly follow up on trends. If I find something I like and it’s flattering I wear it regardless if it’s “in” or not. Like this statement hat – I’m ALL about wide brims (and bows as you all know)…add the two together and what do you get? . . . The most stylish oversized swinger style hat. Yes, my obsession with this gorgeous hat is real. What I love about this hat is the contrast of the two tone colors; a vivid navy blue crown and yellow brim featuring a gigantic striped bow in navy blue and yellow, a definite high fashion perk for various occasions; a derby, wedding or special party. In addition, the unlined interior of the hat offers a headband and a comb for securing it in place, so it can be used as a fascinator. The possibilities are endless, this hat is so flexible that I will call it a hatinator as it can be used for so many things in so many ways.
As previously mentioned about the breaking rules, I’ve been planning to wear this two tone hat as a beach hat as well. Yes, you heard it right! (…it’s too good and needs to be worn often!). This strikes me to top off the head as the ultimate summer hat to be worn either by a beach or at an event because it’s super stylish, sun protective, and let’s not forget about the gorgeous statement features that make it scream for some summer and perfect editorial photographs.
For this look I wanted to share a casual daytime look that is equally cozy and chic from going to a spring Easter bunny party to a beach party. I paired the hat with a multicolor striped maxi dress (got it from the Clothing Swap event at my friend’s house – aka one person’s junk is someone elses treasure). I just love how the colors of my maxi dress and hat harmonize like they are made for each other…these effuse a chic and feminine affair. Opt for closed-toe heels for a nice event like my Prada python snakeskin heels and open toe heels or flat sandals for a beach strolling day.
The Statement
Next is this strikingly beautiful disc hat or slanted fascinator. Twists and curls add a theatrical element to this formation. The oversized black curled quill and finely black Sinamay straw bow ribbon swirls over the off-white disc with a black fishnet accent that felt traditional yet statement-making. My favorite thing about this Giovannio headpiece is couture fashion, high quality and affordable price. As you probably know, fascinators can be very expensive (You could spend $500 or more very easily) and you may want to wear a few times a year and get a new one for the next year (at least that’s me – so I’d rather not splurge too much on a fascinator). This sculptural piece is only $125 (and it looks like a million dollar wearable art piece…I’m serious!).
What do I love about this fascinator? The black and white combination is the easiest and most timeless color pairing in fashion. There’s no end to the ways you can wear this neutral hat with any outfit from keeping it elegant, classic and slightly conservative with all black and white entire look to standing out with geometric graphic mixing or all-over prints (…work both in black and white and multicolor) or even opting from a solid pastel to vivid spring colors. It all depends on how you want to style it.
I wore this statement headpiece with an off-shoulder pleated dress in red. I love how the understated colors of black and white contrast my red floral printed dress. The beauty of this hat is that it can pass as traditional while still being effortlessly elegant for a cocktail party, a formal dinner, a charity fundraiser, a Derby…you name it! Did I mention the fascinator is very breathable and lightweight with a headband to hold securely in place so you can wear it all day? Oh yeah, a party swagger’s dream.

PS. As I was writing this blog content, the world is facing the Coronavirus pandemic that caused most of the world to shut down their countries with most people being shifted into a new normal life called #WFH (aka work from home). All small and major events are cancelled or postponed included the Kentucky Derby. The new date of Kentucky Derby 2020 was moved to September 5, 2020 (the first time since 1945 that the Derby won’t be held on the first Saturday in May; it’s been a crazy to say the least.) I wanted to send everyone good vibes and give you a friendly reminder and #notetoself that all is temporary. This shall pass. Stay safe and healthy.
